jayheron1988 Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 hi all, 1st time posting here in quite a while. i've owned my 57 plate blue c1 since september and i am still absolutely loving it. i am 19 and a student and the cost of running it is still amazing.the other day i saw a black c1 with alloy wheels and i thought they looked really good so i want to know if anybody owns a c1 with the 14 inch 'nemos' which are an optional extra from citroen and if they could send any pictures of it please?or if anyone has any better suggestions as i would like to maybe go for 15 or 16 inch but i dont want anything really flashy or ridiculously expensive. probably a stupid question but i assume you would need new tires if going for the larger size also?thanks Quote

downsman Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I like the look of the Nemo wheels, but they are very expensive :D It's a good idea to check with your insurance before investing in alloys. Hopefully standard size tyres and rims won't affect the premium much, but if you go for wide tyres they may charge a lot more. If you find a good picture, please post a link here :P Quote
jayheron1988 Posted March 27, 2008 Author Posted March 27, 2008 thanks for the advice. didnt really think of the insurance bit. :P wheels are still a way off 4 me anyway, main priority is getting scratch fixed after sum scumbag(s) decided my car would look better after about 30cm of key treatment! :D totally separate topic but does anybody know if it is possible to have central locking or electric windows installed on a vibe model? would be interested in this also!!cheers Quote
downsman Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I think ColinC1 on this forum has fitted central locking, so it can be done. He put up a useful post on how to remove the interior door trims as well :D Quote
Martin_1973_uk Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 How much are the C1 official alloys? If the price of the chrome gearknob is anything to go by I would imagine they are costly. If anyone has a link to pics of their C1 with Alloys and Spoilers I would like to see them. Quote
jayheron1988 Posted March 28, 2008 Author Posted March 28, 2008 think this is thhe right link for the price on the citroen website.http://accessories.citroen-online.co.uk/Ci...1-alloy-wheels/ Quote
ColinC1 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Yes you will need new tyres if you bigger than the 14"rim. Do not limit yourself to the C1 alloys, as both the 107 and Aygo have their own designs. have a look. Watch if you go for the 17" alloys, some tyre/ 17 alloy combinations tend to ground on the underside of the wheel arch when you are heavily loaded or go over a bump. Finally, a low cost option is the Aygo 'Alloy look' wheel trims, rather than alloys. Good luck . Quote
Guest C1millstone Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Re Alloys by Citroen.I had a set put on my 56reg C1 HDI RHYTHM at time of buying it.With no discount they cost me £500.00.To avoid extra cost for tyres I had the same size fitted as the steel wheels.Hope that answers your questions. They do set it off as my car is silver/grey body colour.C1MILLSTONE Quote
red bug Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 thanks for the advice. didnt really think of the insurance bit. wheels are still a way off 4 me anyway, main priority is getting scratch fixed after sum scumbag(s) decided my car would look better after about 30cm of key treatment! :D totally separate topic but does anybody know if it is possible to have central locking or electric windows installed on a vibe model? would be interested in this also!!cheersI fitted a central locking system to my wifes C1, I used the Hawke system cost £24 inc postage. Read the end of my post 'C1 Ownership' for a few tips, it was very easy apart from the window winder removal and trying to find a voltage supply. Quote
ColinC1 Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 CENTRAL LOCKING I got my set on Ebay for around £20. As said in the above message, an electrical supply is not that easy to find in the C1 as the dash is very diifficult to get behind. I took my supply direct ftom the battery through a suitable fuse, then in through the bulkhead to a cental looking control box (that came with the kit) located behind the glove compartment. To get the door cards off, read my writeup on previous thread below....http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citro...?showtopic=4449 You do not need to make holes through from car to doors as they are there already, with rubber bungs. Just slit the bungs open slightly with a stanley knife, and put your cable harness (wrapped in black tape or protective plastic sleeve through it). The solinoid fit easily below the manual plastic pull rod, that come through the door card. The only difficulty I had, was once the door cards were back in place and I tried the central locking, the plastic pull rods got caught up with friction, going up and down through the hole in the door card. I enlarged the hole a bit in each door card and it then worked fine. Quote
jayheron1988 Posted March 29, 2008 Author Posted March 29, 2008 thanks for the advice colin. sounds complicated but worth it for that price!! i'll look into it and see if i can get someone to help out. i'll let you know if i go ahead!cheers Quote
