the_prince Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Hope someone can help, I bought a new Citroen C1 bog standard version, trying to wash the damn thing and notice that the front windscreen wiper doesn't come away from the window, so how are you supposed to get behind it in the event that yyou need to change the blade. The back one is OK and comes away as you would expect. There appears to be nothing about wipers in the users manual, so if anybody can tell me if I'm missing something the information would be greatly appreciated. ColinC1 Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Hi and welcome to the site. It takes a while to get used to the one wiper up front, but it works well. As for replacement, well I have never thought about it, I will have to go out tomorrow and take a look when it is daylight. Mind you it should be a number of years from new, before it would need replaced. Quote

The wiper doesn't lift up because the parallel linkage arm would be damaged. I admit it is a pain when washing the car, but don't worry about changing the blade. There is a plastic clip that fixes the wiper blade to the U shaped wiper arm. If you look closely you'll see that there are small extensions to this clip. These can be pulled up towards the top face of the arm to free the retaining clip. The whole blade then slides down the arm for about 1 inch and becomes free. It's a lot easier to do than to describe  Quote

Luckily, you can completely remove the hinge bit on both, and bodge them together! ;) Quote
the_prince Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 Thanks for the reply guys, this is only my second visit to the forum, the other forums I use all send automatic replies to questions, so I was unaware anyone had taken the time to respond. As I am such a Luddite, I thought it was just me having problems with the wiper blades. I'd sent my skivvy (the long suffering wife) out to clean said car, and couldn't work out why we couldn't get behind them to clean. Thanks again for all the replies Quote
