Hi all

I'm new here having bought a new C1 Vibe 3 door a couple of weeks ago. Great little runabout and no complaints so far.

Having a problem fitting the front mudflaps that I have just bought. They are genuine Citroen C1 flaps but it appears the screws are too long for the intended job? The instructions provided are for dealers only and are not very clear, but I was not paying £50 to have a dealer fit mudflaps!

Cheers for any help provided and this is a great forum for advice and info!

I don't think you will find many of us on the site, who has fitted the mudflaps. We just live without.

Can you scan the paperwork and we will take a look at it, or a photo of a mudflap and the fixings?

Got it sorted (I think). The screw has to go in at exactly the right angle if it is to go all the way in. Annoying, as it goes in apparently fine until the last 3mm if you get it wrong, and is then very difficult to get out again!

Anyway one on, one to go. (Then I have got to fit the rears which involves a drill!)

I was unimpressed with the front mudflaps. They work well at reducing the muck up the side of the car but the fittings are not plated against rust, the black finish simply dropped off while rattling in the box/bag, and clamping a screw against the cill flange and breaking the paint seal is stupid ( I cut an aluminium can open and folded it as a pad then glued it onto the flange for the screw to push against ).

Functional but cheap and nasty, needing much waxoyl etc. afterwards

Make sure you paint the holes you drilled, so it dont rust

Hi Newbi,

I'm new to the site myself, having bought a C1 last november. I've fitted both front and rear mudflaps, and the rear are almost as easy to fit as the front and look realy smart, finishing the rear of the vehicle off as well as helping keep the rear window clean.

You don't have to worry about painting the drilled holes as your going to drill the plastic. (painting is good practise for metal). Before tearing straight into fitting, jack up the car and put it on an axle stand for safety. Remove the wheel and offer the mudflap up to the arch. The genuine C1 flap neatly follows the angled down line of the rear numberplate surround. With your mudflap held in place mark the holes through the flap with a pencil, as these are not quite were you will drill. The clips provided will no push all the way onto the arch and you will find the holes marked do not quite match up. Put the clip on as far as it will go, or line it up and mark through it. This is the point at which you will drill. As your only drilling soft plastic, a hand drill is fine with a sharp bit. When you have screwed through the mudflap into the 2 arch clips on there is another hole under the bumper to complete the job. Drill through the flap carefully, and fit, final screw and your done.
