Hi just bought a nice 97 ZX 1.9 diesel SX but the radio has been removed.

I want to replace it with radio/cd but original aperture is odd shape form original fixing.

Can you get kit to fit normal radio to car?

BTW what mpg should I expect?

Hi there John.

Welcome aboard! Yes you can purchase an adapter kit for the fascia which allows the fitment of a standard ISO radio. They come with a built in flap which covers up the radio when not in use and so hides it from prying eyes. They are probably still available from Citroen and your local dealership may well have some left which they will be happy to unload. Failing that, Halfords used to do them, along with the neccessary wiring adapters so that you can just plug into the Citroen Plugs. Alrenatively Ebay has come up trumps again at £14.99 (Complete with flap!) Have a look here

You should maybe email the seller to make absolutely certain it will fit the ZX.

Regarding MPG, general usage should be high 30s / low 40s depending on traffic conditions with 50 mpg possible on a run. Oddly enough the atmo diesel isn't as thrifty as the turbo in normal use as, due to the lower power and lower gearing it needs to be harder driven to acheive similar speeds. There's probably only 1 or 2 mpg in it. I certainly noticed my Turbo Xantia to be more economical than the atmo, with the HDi the best of the lot on fuel.

Cheers. Hope this helps. Enjoy your "Sounds" :D
