mhillier Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 Hello everyone, Im having a lot of trouble with the alarm on my Xantia. It just WILL NOT SWITCH OFF! Earlier in the week it was an intermitant fault but now its 100% of the time whilst driving.Im pretty sure at one stage it would have had an electronic key or fob to remote operate the alarm to switch it off. Ive tried switching it off via the key switch under the bonnet but this has no effect.I have also tried using the reset button on the dashboard to the right of the ignition/wheel etc but this also has no effect.Ive also tried disconnecting the battery for 30min (suggested by a mechanic) reconnecting it and trying again but this also dosnt work. I cant even locate the alarm itself to just destroy the siren/speaker or remove the wires nor do I know if this would be safe for the electric's of the car, ie would it cause more electrical faults? I dont really know much at all about cars or electronics so im very stuck.I wasnt supplied a manual with the car so I dont know if there's another way around this problem.Has anyone come across this problem before? Can anyone help at all? Many thanks M.Hillier. Quote
