Pitmonster Posted April 22, 2008 Posted April 22, 2008 I seem to have a problem with my heater/blower. The motor works fine, but not much air seems to come out of the vents regardless of how fast the motor is blowing. The problem is the same for hot and cold air.It seems as though a pipe carrying the air from the motor to the various vents etc may have come loose, and so the air isn't reaching the vents.Any ideas of the best ways to check/fix this without taking the whole dashboard out? 1999 5-door HDI (pre-facelift) Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Hi Pitmonster. This one sounds very like a choked pollen filter. I'm not sure where it will be on a Xsara, but on the Picasso it's in the engine compartment on the bulkhead in front of the driver. Probably best to ask the guys at your local dealers how to go about it when you get the new filter. If you don't have a pollen filter, then I'm afraid I've no idea what it could be. Cheers. Hope this helps. Quote
Pitmonster Posted April 29, 2008 Author Posted April 29, 2008 The pollen filter was replaced less than a year ago when I had the air-con re-gassed, and the airflow was the same before and after. I trust the garage that did it, so I'm sure they didn't just leave the old filter in and charge me for work they hadn't done.Maybe I should just take it out completely. Is it OK to take the filter out, or will I end up with leaves and small dogs blowing in through the air vents? Guest Colin Hunter Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 The filter is there to stop the aircon evaporator getting fouled with dust etc as much as for the comfort of the occupants. By all means take it out to see if it makes a difference, but don't leave it out for all time or you will eventually reduce the efficiency of the aircon through fouling on the evap surfaces. Is the system the same on recirc as it is on outside air? It may be one of the control flaps come loose and blocking the inlet. Clutching at straws here! Cheers. <_< Quote
