Hello all,

New to the citroen, and finding it very entertaining, probably for the wrong reasons!

Yesterday the front electric windows stopped working, and the central locking (as well as remote), then all the dials went haywire (fuel, temp & speedo, rev counter also probably but its broken), the dial thing is intermittent but especially when the idicators/hazards are on.

I have read that this is an earth problem and see that others have had similar issues.

Having read the manual realised that when my drivers window would occasionally only go up in spurts that this was beacause (or so it thought) the battery had been disconnected.

So any ideas where to find the faulty earth if that is the problem?

On a side note, how easy is it to change the roof aerial on these.

Cheers Will

Hi Will.

Yet another one with earth problems! It is most likely to be a common earth point problem but I'm sorry I can't tell you where to look for the particular one. Even the guys at our local dealership weren't sure. Under the dash was the best guess.

On the aerial front, it's more awkward than difficult. The roof mount can be accessed by taking off the sunvisor mounts and gently pulling down on the head lining. If your car has a sunroof it's even easier. Just take out the switch panel. There is a 10mm nut which holds the aerial lead to the roof mount and also the mount to the roof. The original fitted aerial lead had an amplifier built into the part where the mount goes through and this can get water in it from a leaky mount and become defunct. You should be able to get a new mount, mast and lead from Citroen for about £20 or so.

If you need to change the lead, pull the door seal off the drivers side windscreen pillar and unclip the pillar trim. The lead passes down the pillar behind the trim. The old lead is made fast in among the rest of the wires under the dash, so cut out the bit above the dash and unplug the rest from the radio and tuck it out of the way. Feed the new lead along under the headlining, down the pillar and through the wee gap at the end of the dash. Take off the kick panel under the steering wheel and feed it along to the radio. Clip it up as well as you can with cable ties so it doesn't become trapped in anything. Before fitting the new mast, mount and lead, make sure the metal where the aerial lead "Earths" under the mount, is clean. Reception will be poor otherwise.

Cheers. Hope this helps. Happy Listening!
