Hi,

Just bough a 2nd hand C5. It seems ok, apart from two little things.

1. All the electric windows work ok, except when you use the remote to open them slightly. They all open except the drivers window. Is this normal? Or is it an easy fix?

2. Can I retrofit a sport button for the suspension, and will it work, or is it completly different suspension?

Thanks for helping a C5 newbie <_<

Hi there mcneep:

1. No, it's not normal, but it's not uncommon either. One of my rear windows goes down by a smaller amount than the others when I use the remote control. It doesn't bother me. I don't know if it's an easy fix, so I'll let somebody more technical answer that bit.

2. No, you cannot retrofit a Sport button. The front suspension pipes on Hydractive 3+ models are of a completely different configuration to that of the 'normal' Hydractive 3 models, as I found to my cost earlier this year

I think the windows not opening equally from the third plip button is probably a different problem altogether... I'm no expert but I'd suspect that that's actually down to the individual winders in the doors or possibly something else.. or not YMMV

The symptoms as described by the OP happen to my own bus as well, though to add a little more to the description as I'm seeing on my 02 2.0HDI

the plip doesn't operate the drivers door window, either to open it a fraction or to close it while walking away from the car. Also I've noticed that the window doesn't close when the heavens open (but the passenger window will close) with the auto-magic wiping on.

the first tell tale sign that there's some thing wrong is that the window will open the full way down without interruption. When all the fanciness seems to be in order there's usually about a qtr/half inch of glass poked up above the level of the sill & then another tap on the button will end the job.

In the past when this has happened my car, it seems to (sometimes) correct itself after the battery's been disconnected for 15 - 20 minutes, though this requires re-training of the ignition resetting the clock etc / units etc etc.. and it still may not work :(

if someone's a better fix I'd be all ears as this is one of the couple of (albeit minor) annoyances I have with this car.

ta all
