I recently bought a C3 1.6 exclusive sensodrive with 14k on a 05 plate. It was an ex mobility car with a full service history. I had cause to take it back to the garage as the brakes were squeeking badly. All brakes were stripped down cleaned and tested ( this should have been done prior to picking the car up which is another story) the squeek after the initial drive disappeared but has now returned. I have been assured that all is well and pads and discs are sound. Has anyone any suggestions?

Front or rear/

If its the front then it will be the pads singing on the discs as you first apply them. Are the discs new or have the pads been changed without the discs being changed. very often just removing the pads and putting a chamfer on the top and bottom edges cures this.

If its the rears then it could be a similar problem. On rear brake syou have leading and a trailing shoe. This means that one of them (leading) operates first. The trailing shoe will act a leading shoe in reverse and very often this is isn't used much how often do you go backwards and the edges again sing on the drums. Same cure with often work BUT you could also try the following.

Find a quiet area and reverse at a abot 15 mph and apply the brakes HARD. Do make sure that there is no one around to hit and you have plenty of room. This will use the trailing shoe (leading going backwards) and bed it. It will also ensure they are auto adjusted.

I won't mention the name, as I don't want to get anyone into trouble, but the service manager at our local Citroen dealership told me that the genuine Citroen pads do tend to squeal and they get sick and tired of customers bringing cars back to complain. It's something to do with the compound Citroen use. They actually give customers the option of having 'other make' pads fitted to cure the problem. I don't suppose for a moment that this is an 'official' fix, but as he says it cures the problem and the customer goes away happy.

Happy customers buy more cars.

I have the same problem . It turned out to be a seized piston . I had to buy a special tool to turn the piston as it is pushed back. Not got round to doing it yet though , stopped squealing when I found out what was the problem was and gave it a bit of a bash . That was before i got the tool from halfords

Well I had my 05 C3 Exclusive Sensodrive I had my Break Pads changed at 15,000 as they were rubbing bad. It went back on 28th April with 21,800 on it and since I had the pads changed not once it squeeked. They starting to squeek bad about 7,000 miles.
