I have just Bought a 2000 2.0lhdi Xantia and hve noticed that when I leave the car. When the suspension settles it does so with a load groaning noise. This only happens when I get out of the car , other than this it drives great. Please no jokes abought my weight I only weigh 14 st it sounds like maybe a dry strut or similar. One more thing the central locking on the front passengers door does not work off the plip I have to lean over and open it manually, then i have to lock it manually before I get out, or the central locking locks and unlocks cos the passenger door is not locked, but if I lock the passenger door with the the key central locking works fine {all doors lock} Just after some advice on where to start looking Thanks in advance JON

Hi Jon.

I wouldn't be too bothered about the groaning noise. Mine did it too, but not always. I had the car for 6 years and it did it on and off for most of that time without apparent problems occurring. I thought it may have been oil going through the return line or something. My previous car also did it occasionally.

The central locking problem sounds like a duff actuator/solenoid on the lock. I'm not sure about the Xantia as I never had any problems with mine, but on the ZX they just clip onto the side of the doorlock and can be changed easily. I had to change 2 on the Lad's ZX and got them off a scrapper for a fiver.

Cheers. Hope this helps. :)
