Just got 2.0hdi - back to Citroen after being on the dark side for a while!

Small problem with seat height adjuster - pull up lever but it won't stay up - seat goes back to lowest setting! Any ideas? Norik

Hi Norik.

I had the same problem. The height adjustment is held in position by a clutch type arrangement inside the handle boss. The handle can be removed from the seat base (2 torx screws) and then will slide off the spline of the adjusting shaft. When I took mine apart I found it was a poor quality metal casting and the locating lug had broken off, hence no operation. Unfortunately the handle is not available as a spare part alone, only as part of the entire seat subframe for silly money.

The good news is that you should be able to source one from a scrapper. The ones from ZXs and, in fact, any Citroen or Peugeot with the same type of extending handle should fit OK. It's a bit awkward to refit as the spring in the seat base keeps wanting to put the seat to full height while the handle is off. Perhaps you could get someone to sit on the seat while you refit the relacement.

Cheers. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem Norik - but as I'm over six feet tall I alway use the seat at the lowest setting...

Got my girlfriend to sit on the seat whilst I applied 3 or 4 good cable ties under the seat to defeat the springs, and voila! - sorted.

Not sure this is any help to you but thought I'd mention it anyway!

Cheers

Could also be as I had, the two retaining screws are loose, or fallen out and hiding under the seat.

Cable ties worked a treat! I'm a bit vertically challenged so like the seat quite high.

My entire life is held together with cable ties and gaffer tape...

Cheers! Norik

Ah Well!

Another one with "ducks disease!" That's exactly why I put another height adjuster on mine! You can always stick a cushion on the seat til you find an adjusting handle to put on!

Cheers!
