Guest Colin Hunter Posted May 20, 2008 Posted May 20, 2008 It's probably the alternator bearings that are making the noise. As long as there's no burning smell coming from it, and it's still charging OK when it's running you may be able to get away with a new set of bearings. Try an auto electrician for a quote. Cheers. Hope this helps. Quote
Typhon Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I've had a similar problem. Everyone thought it to be the servo pump, but turned out t be the (sorry for my bad vocabulary, since I'm not an English speaking person on daily basis) the little wheel-thingy that tensions the belt. Try to take it out and se if it glides as it should. Quote
Billy_the_taz Posted May 28, 2008 Posted May 28, 2008 If you removed the aux belt you should have already chesked both the tesioner and the idler as they are both removeable .. But it does really sound like altinator bearings.. Had mine recond a few months back £60 Quote
