amadeus Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 2003/53 Reg C5 VTR estate: (50k miles) Hello! This looks like the site for me. I had my front and rear brake pads replaced six months ago, and also new rear calipers from the auth dealer. They all work fine, but recently (with the windows open more in warmer weather) I've noticed a double metallic clicking noise can be heard every time I brake softly when moving slowly. I cannot locate it to the front or rear because the car has to be moving, but I wondered if anyone else had noticed the same. It sounds like 'play' being taken up when braking, but if all the pads are new - there should be no movement. Answers on a postcard please....... Quote
Guest andyp Posted May 26, 2008 Posted May 26, 2008 This noise may not be a fault, its probably just the pads moving slightly in the calipers, which on most cars i have come across they are supposed to be able to do. Quote

Thanks Andy. You're probably right. The car is in this Friday for oil & coolant change, and I've mentioned the brakes to them. They've probably been 'clicking' since last October, but I will not have heard them until recently. (and I'm hoping to be able to change the oil myself next time. This is a very useful site!) Quote
