joey22 Posted May 27, 2008 Posted May 27, 2008 hi im new to all this so here goes, i have recently brought a xsara picasso which i love, its a 52 plate 1.6 sx model when i test drove it i noticed the cd had been replaced with a panasonic face off cd ,i knew that meant the steering column controls would now be useless so i asked if i could have it swapped over with a standard citroen cd, the guy said yes when we get one in,ive had to wait till now and they have just had an x reg in, ive now got to wait for him to check if it is compatible with mine, i dont think i trust them much as they have been stringing me along for about 8 weeks now so i thought id ask people who know so i can find out. thanks Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted May 29, 2008 Posted May 29, 2008 Hi there Joey 22. It's not that simple. The radios in modern Citroens have no "code" in the standard sense. That means you can disconnect the battery and it doesn't need to be coded again. However, each set is specific to the vehicle it's in and needs to be coded with that vehicles VIN number before the central processor in the vehicle will recognise it. This would normally need to be done by a dealer. This is only the case for the standard fit VDO (Or whatever) unit. 3rd party units are usually OK but may need some input from a dealer or specialist to get them working. I have found some Picasso units for sale on Ebay. One is brand new and the guy wants £60 for it so have a look. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Citroen-Picasso-CD-R...1QQcmdZViewItem You'll probably need the small trims which cover the screws at the sides, Citroen should have them or be able to get them. Cheers. Hope this helps. B) Quote
