Guest Wally Walrus Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 I have it seems like many other owners a heater blower fault but with a difference. I thought it was the fan controller ( climate control version) which I took out and resoldered what looked like dry joints. This seemed to work for a while but now there is nothing. Checked the voltages at various indicated fan speeds and the controller is supplying voltage to the motor terminals so it seems to be in order. I am now left with a faulty blower motor. Auto data says that it takes 0.6 hrs to replace but I can't even find the thing. Can anybody help? The car is a C5 estate 02 2.0 HDI Exclusive manual. Any help would be very appreciated. Quote

I had a problem with my fan controller but to prove it was that and not the motor I had to remove the plug from the motor and wire it directly to 12 volts. To do this you have to remove the passenger side kick panel and follow the 2 thick wires that come from the fan controller on the drivers side up to the fan plug situated on the left hand side of the heater. Before attempting to get the motor out I would suggest you put power to it in situ using thick cable as it takes a lot of amps. Apparently the controllers breaking down is a fairly common fault and I remember mine cost me just under £50 about a year ago. Hope this helps.Malcolm Quote

I think the motor must have gone open circuit as a short would have blown the fuse or at least melted some of the cabling. Now there's a sobering thought! I will try as you suggest to put voltage straight onto the terminals in the passengers footwell. That would at least show if there was a broken cable in centre console. Thanks againFrank (Wally Walrus) Quote

Passenger footwell behind the glove box I believe m8. I don't think they changed the position since the days of the Xantia. I would also check the voltage from the ignition switch. A fix on Xantia's was to run a relay patch. Quote

Guest Wally Walrus Posted June 5, 2008 Posted June 5, 2008 Thanks for the pointer. Looks like I'm back on my knees again!!RegardsHi everybodyFound cause of the problem. Fan OK Controller OK but feed on fuse panel under bonnet had somehow melted the inside of the big green connector.Must have got really hot. Quickfix is a bypass but now I have to find out why there is such a big current draw at this point. Any body know where I can get a wiring diagram for the C5? Thanks for all the help -it's much appreciated. Quote

I'm afraid there isn't much info on the net about C5 wiring etc.The best I can come up with is this:http://www.scribd.com/doc/2530474/Citroen-Technical-Guide sorry m8  Quote
