Moist Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Hi AllI have a 2003 1.4 blingo. I understand that it may be equipped with variable (speed sensitive) power steering, is this correct?I have noticed when negotiating roundabouts the steering wheel kicks back slightly in a pulsing fashion. i.e. steering heavy then light then heavy etc Is this a characteristic or a fault.I have noticed that there is what appears to be a pressure switch between the pump and rack which has a slight weep. I would not consider that this would cause the system to lose pressure as the weep is very slight. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks Quote

It can also pulse on my van when I am stood still but about an inch from full lock. The Pump has been replaced, but I haven't a clue what to look at next... Any ideas anyone??? (Mine is a 54 plate 2.0 Hdi) Quote
solo1874 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 Hi Whilst you get the pulsing almost on full lock it might be worthwhile switching the engine off and whilst leaving steering on full lock checking the power steering fluid. I used to get this problem when I was a truck mechanic and a top up of TQF as it was then would solve it. I don't know if this is the problem but then is (or used to be) when most fluid is reuired to activate the hydraulic ram. To check and see if the fluid is very low is free and worth doing just in case its as simple as that. Cheers John Quote
