Hi All,

I have recently purchased a fantastic little X reg 1.8i Xantia Forte in Black. Probably the best car I've had to date and I've had a few Rover 620ti's , Vauxhall omega 2.5v6's etc but this car is great.

Anyway the only thing that lets it down is the cassette player....who has cassettes now??????

I would love to stick a cd player in but I would still want the steering wheel controls to work sooooo do Xantia/Citroen have a CD player that will do the job or is there a way i can sort it etc?

Cheers in Advance

Yes, the later Xantias had CD head units as standard. I'm surprised your X reg has a cassette. It must have been one of the last so adorned! There are various interfaces available to enable the steering wheel controls, depending on the head unit fitted. Ask at your local dealership for advice or at a car audio speciallist if you have one nearby. Halfords also (Used to anyway) stock compatible head units and interfaces.

You may also be able to find a 2nd hand one on Ebay.

You'll probably find that your existing head unit can drive an autochanger, so if you can find one that's compatible that may be the easiest way round it.

Another way is to do what I did and bought a cassette shaped MP3 player which slotted into the head unit and would play off a MMC card. It behaved exactly like a cassette when in the unit and could also be used as a stand alone player through headphones.

Cheers. Hope this helps. :)

I am in exactly the same situation.I have just bought a 2.oHDi LX (or is it a Forte?) regd Sept 2008 and they only have the Cassette Radio. (Corporate BeanCounters at work???)

If I buy one from Halfords, will the Steering Wheel controls still work with it??

cheers
