CBM Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 My wife has a 2002 C3 1.4 auto which has only covered 26,000 miles, whilst reversing out of the drive the o/s/f coil spring broke leaving the car stuck in the middle of the road, does anyone know if this is a common C3 problem. The warranty expired 3 weeks ago so I'm currently waiting to see what Citroen have to say. Quote
CE08LDB Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 My brother has a 2003 52 Reg C3 1.4i SX Auto. The gear box went after 2 years old and while they were fitting the new gear box they noticed the car needed new shock absorders aswell. Didn't the garage who did the MOT check your suspension. I have a 05 C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive alot better than 1.4i SX Auto. Here is an email address direct to Citroen UK if you want it CUKCustomer_Relations@citroen.com Quote
CBM Posted July 13, 2005 Author Posted July 13, 2005 I've got it back now, Citroen repaired it under warranty, the dealer admitted that they have had others (02 - 03 models only) in with broken front springs too. Quote
CE08LDB Posted July 13, 2005 Posted July 13, 2005 My brothers SX Auto has been a nightmare from week 1. Thats why I picked the Sensodrive version. Look at my previous posts regarding his car you know what I mean oh and by the way make sure you or your wife check the engine hasen't cut out b4 going down an hill. Read my posts on here and you will know what I mean. Im glad the dealer admitted fault. Quote
springlessc3 Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 My wife has a C3 1.4SX, 2002 model with less than 20,000 miles. It too suffered f/os suspension failure, luckily whilst in the drive. Waiting for car to be collected. Hoping the extended warranty will cover. How common is this defect? Quote
CE08LDB Posted August 2, 2005 Posted August 2, 2005 My brothers is a 52 reg Feb 2003 with 41,800 miles on the clock. I can't beleave yours went like that after 20,000 miles it should last for at least 100,000 miles in my opinion. Well your Dealer shouldn't charge you because it should have been checked on the MOT. You can't extend the warranty now thats the only thing. Quote
Mike the Mechanic Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Mine passed its MOT on Monday and I received a phone call from the dealer today about a suspension recall. Apparently the coil can fail and go through the tyre! Quote
wozza Posted October 21, 2005 Posted October 21, 2005 Lovely! My model clio was recalled a few weeks after i got it due to suspension issues but was an impact only kinda thing it could happen on if you hit a bump to hard could cause it to fail basically. Still didnt take it in to get done till around 5 months later. Quote
