Guest roy collingwood Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I am pleased.I have a C3 1.4 stop 'n start.Over the last week I have travelled from the West Midlands to Scotland & back. I travelled 975 miles, in which I averaged 44mph, my average petrol consumption was 52.3mpg. I think this is pritty good, what do you think? Quote
stimulator Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Not bad. Just for comparison one of our 54 reg C3 SX 16V 1.4HDi is currently returning 68mpg on run of 30 miles and an average 62mpg the rest of the time. The other C3 we own is now returning 60mpg it's a 07 reg SX 16V 1.6HDi ater 3800 miles from new. Quote
Gordo Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 I have a 2002 1.4 HDi exclusive with over 93K on the clock and am currently getting a weekly average of between 69 and 74.5 and that is using the mileage from last fill up to the next and the actual volume of diesel. The driving is motorway, A roads and town/city work. So am happy with this in light of the consumption shown in the books and this along with the cheap road tax means I'm very reluctant to trade for another car.I even considered a Toyota Prius but can't see me getting the same savings in fuel. It's time they brought a diesel hybrid out. Quote
arrows Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 My previous car of 3 years was an 03 1.4 16V HDI Exclusive (55000 on the clock) and it would return 65mpg on average - it did not have a computer. I have now had a 56 1.6 HDI Exclusive for year and I am slightly dissapointed that after 15000 miles is only returns approx 57 mpg under the same driving conditions. I have checked the mpg by filling the tank and noting how many miles covered and how much fuel I put in when I fill it up next. I am also dissapointed with the accuracy of the computer which always tells me I an achieving 64.3 mpg when I know I am not. Also I have noted the increments in the computer readouts which are always something like 64.3, 65.6 or 67.3 and nothing in between which again leads me to think it's more something to look impressive rather than an accurate tool. Has anyone else noted the same. Quote
stimulator Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 The makers name is Citroen and as such the computation is for fuel is litres per 100 KM and not MPG as we are use to. Consequently the system has to recalculate from litres/100KM to MPG and it rounds up the figures, this why you ahve the strange jumps in the display. it also accounts for why the display shows 999.9 mpg on the instant readout, when in L/KM it reads 0 as that is the amount of fuel you are using at that time. The 999.9 is as close a sit can get to infinity as it is dividing miles by 0 Quote
CE08LDB Posted June 17, 2008 Posted June 17, 2008 I was thinking of getting a C3 Stop & Start when I was renewing my last C3 but Motability wanted to much on the Deposit so I went for the C2 VTR SensoDrive which is going great on Fuel. I had it doing 55mpg last Tuesday on a run up Mid Wales after a few trips around town since then its now doing 44mpg Quote
