Hi i'm putting my xantia 1.9td through an MOT and wondered how to replace the rubber and metal thingy that is on the underside above the strut (it seems to have the 4 strut mounting bolts fixed into it from inside the bonnet) - so what's it called and how easy is it to acquire and fit please?

the part neede is strut top mounting. £130 each from citroen,so try a breakers yard, check these mounting for rust as a common failure of early models, was for the struts to go through the bonnet!!

thanks renorti,

i have just returned from the scrappie with a solid one for £15 - they even removed it for me - mind it was a bit messy!

so how does anyone know how my mechanic should go about replacing the unit:

what's the best way to unscrew the sphere?

do i need new O rings?

what suspension height position to select?

how do you release hydrualic pressure and how do you pressure up again?

anything else he needs to know (i'm assuming he hasn't changed one before).

thanks
