HOPE I WONT BE DISAPOINTED THE ONE QUESTION I HAVE AND HOPE SOMEONE WILL BE ABLE TO HELP WITH IS WHAT DOES THE MANUAL SAY ABOUT THE INITIAL RUN IN OF THE ENGINE AS I LIVE IN CENTRAL SCOTLAND AND ITS FIRST TRIP WILL BE A BAPTISM OF FIRE WITH A 440 MILE MOTORWAY RUN ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED .HOPE IM NOT ASKING A QUESTION THATS ALREADY BEEN COVERED Quote
downsman Posted July 1, 2008 Posted July 1, 2008 Welcome to the forum :D It's a good idea to write in lower case, if you use capitals it makes it hard to read  When you get your car you'll almost certainly be told you don't need to run it in. However, on page XIX of the end section of the handbook is says: Running-in period. During the first 1000miles following the following..... will optimise the performance......and long term reliability of your vehicle. Pull away and accelerate gently, drive at moderate road speeds and avoid high engine speeds. If you have a rev counter limit revs to 2/3 maximum. Do not drive for long periods at high road speeds Avoid harsh braking From 600 to 700 miles(petrol) the road speed and revs can be increased progressively. Note maximum performance will not be reached until the engine has run for 3000miles. Quote
paulodon Posted July 2, 2008 Author Posted July 2, 2008 thanks for that info looks like it will take me a long time to get back home then . Quote
downsman Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 thanks for that info looks like it will take me a long time to get back home then . Not really, the gearing is surprisingly high, I was able to cruise at 70mph while running in :) Quote
Martin_1973_uk Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I wouldn't get to excited about the C1. As great for the money it is, at the end of the day it is still a budget car. On the plus side I've had mine a year now and not had anything wrong with it and it is so cheap to run. Happy motoring....... Quote

paulodon Posted July 14, 2008 Author Posted July 14, 2008 oops posted twice . :o will get used to this someday  Quote
Martin_1973_uk Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 Could you not wait for it to be ready bearing in mind you are travelling 400 miles to collect it? Do you not have dealers closer to you in Scotland? Quote
paulodon Posted July 15, 2008 Author Posted July 15, 2008 thanks for that piece of wisdom  but before i had went on holiday i had confirmed the pick up date with another salesman(who was not working that sunday) and was assured all would be ready he had called the car of .i even called on the day before i went on holiday and all was ok and do you really think i would travel 440 miles if it wasnt worth my while.the car was purchased via drive the deal and nobody in scotland could come within £600 of the deal i was offered so even with the cost of the flight and petrol it was still a significant saving Quote
