Daniel350 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Hi I am just looking at replacing my wifes 53 reg Ford Galaxy Ghia with a new C4 Grand Picasso 1.6HDi EGS VTR+. What are the known problems with these as all the known problems on the Galaxy came up on Ours. Climate control packed up once a year, Driveshaft failed, Rear Washer didn't work and front tyres wore badly. I know the reviews say the EGS isn't particularly smooth on changing but you can road test it and see if you think it is a problem. What I am more worried about is what breaks on it leaving you at the side of the road with a big bill in your hand. Any help to a newbie would be helpfull. Quote
wozza Posted July 4, 2008 Posted July 4, 2008 Nothing really breaks. They are fairly reliable cars to be honest. The EGS box is also smooth if you drive it properly. Like a manual it requires you come off the gas when changing gear to get a smoother gearchange. Most people who review them don't do this and then moan about the gearchange. What they forget is it is actually a manual gearbox with an actuator for the clutch no torque converter like a regular automatic has. Hence different driving style needed. Check out the http://c4owners.org/news.php website though lots more owners over there and various threads can be found detailing the issues you are likely to get. Quote
