Well everything that can go wrong will go wrong i suppose.

Have rebuilt a Xsara MkII (2001) 2.0L TD Hdi after a front end crash and everything seemed to be going well until it was time to drive it places.

Fine when cold, but as the temp comes up the engine will only run at 2500 RPM. Now I am guessing this is because it getting too hot, and the reason it's getting to hot is because the fan isn't kicking in.

I have tested the fan accross a battery and it runs fine, (It should do, it's brand new) so my question is where is the censor/switch and how do I test it?

Thanks

Ian

Rather than the fan having its own sensor, I think you may find that the fan is switched on by the ECU when the coolant temp sensor tells it that the coolant has reached a certain temperature. Is the temperature guage reading normally ?

I had a problem where the fan wouldnt kick in as you are facing the car to the left of the fan are 2 resistor packs one brown one grey (may be a diffrent colour on your car) one of these failed on mine take them out and check the spring inside hasnt snapped if it has replace the pack about £8 also check the resistor in the back. Hope this helps.
