Hello all, hope someone can give me a bit of advice on my xantia's heater blowing out cold issue, it has air conditioning and from what I’ve read already on this site ie:

"or if it has air conditioning, a problem with the air temp sensor behind the alarm LED.

If it’s the latter can you hear a small fan working behind the LED with the ignition on but no engine running?

Also have you tried moving the heat adjuster to full hot/cold? This will override the temp sensor to help establish the cause of the fault."

I can confirm with mine that when the slider is slid over to the full hot position it still blows out cold, also my engine temperature is around 70 degrees all the time, and the air con works nice and cold.

Also I'm not sure where the internal sensor is located so I cannot check or listen for the buzz of the tiny fan.

any advice as to look at next will be appreciated. thanks Simon.

Just an update,

The internal sensor for the heating is just to the left of the clock, there is a little grill and behind this is the tiny fan and sensor "it looks like a Scalelectrix motor", my little fan is working but the sensor at the front was totally bogged up with fluff and dust, but it still does not work, I will get a new one and post the results. To get to it you need to remove the stereo and also the surround which is held in by 4 small hex screws, it is very fiddly but you need to unscrew the motor and pull and it will come out. hope this will be of help to someone.
