Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Hi Gavbey! It sounds to me as though the rear height corrector has seized. There have been several people with similar problems in previous posts so read back through and you'll probably find your answer. Basically though, the height correctors, front and rear, are what control the ride height. They will raise the suspension by letting more fluid into the system when the vehicle is loaded and vice versa. They take their reference from a link to the anti roll bars and this (on the rear particularly) can drop off, leaving the system with no "feedback" for height control. However, as it sounds as though the car has been sat a while, it's safe to assume the height corrector itself is stuck. If you go under the car (Pit or lift preferably) the corrector can be found left of centre on the rear subframe. It has one steel rod link to the lever between the seats and a small plastic link which goes to the arm on the anti roll bar. Remove these links (If you can) and try to move the arms they were on. Spray the stuck parts with WD 40 or similar and try to get them moving again. Be carefull if you are under the car on ramps as the car may drop suddenly and squash you. Best to support it properly on "Axle" stands as well if that's what you have. When you have freed up the levers, reconnect the linkages and try the height control again. Chances are it will be OK. After you get it working grease everything in sight with a good dollop and to stop further problems work the lever between the high and low setting on a weekly basis. (Citrobics!) Cheers, Hope this helps ;) Quote
gavbey Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 hi, ye iv fixd ma suspention. was a plastic clip on hight corector that poped off. i was wondering can you take the wastegate return pipe off to make a louder noise? thanks for your help Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Why on earth would you want to? This a diesel we're taling about here. The wastegate is on the exhaust and allows exhaust gas to bypass the turbo when the specified boost has been acheived. You will not get that popping, hissing sound so beloved of the "scooby" brigade, just a load of smoke! :) Cheers. ;) Quote
