Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Hi. Is it safe to assume that all was rosy in the ignition department before the head job? If so, have you set the valve clearances correctly, Poorly set clearances could lead to poor compression on one (or more) cylindrer(s) leading to an impression of the engine "missing". Other possibilities:There are 2 temp sensors on the gearbox end of the head. Have you connected them properly? The GREEN one is for the ECU temp and the BLUE one is for the temp gauge. It's possible that transposing them COULD cause a problem. (don't REALLY know)Have you connected the plug leads up properly? The firing order is 1,3,4,2 but the engine uses "wasted spark" ignition so 1&4 and 2&3 plugs fire together. Make sure they are connected correctly to the module on the end of the head. If you are an "old hand" used to a distributor, you may have though (as I did) that they went 1342 when in fact they go 1423 (or 4132, makes little difference!)Other than that, I can't really think of anything glaring. Cheers. Hope this helps. Quote

Guest Colin Hunter Posted September 26, 2008 Posted September 26, 2008 Hi there. Valve clearances are 0.2mm inlet 0.4mm exhaust. If you want to send me an email I'll send you a PDF file of the relevant passage from the manual. You'll have to tell me your own email address as I can't figure out how to do it using the messenger in the site. You'll find my email address in my profile. Cheers. Hear from you soon! Quote
