Guest JasonM Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 I have a 2001 (Y reg) Citroen C5 estate that I bought a year and a half ago. About six months ago it developed a really annoying squeek coming from the rear, I assume from the suspension. I asked the Citroen dealer to take a look when it went in for a service and MOT, they eliminated the possibility of wear in the rear bearing or bent rear arms (sorry, can't remember the exact name of the part). Their conclusion was that C5s of that age had a problem with the rear axle and the camber of the wheels. This is apparently causing he squeek and the only cure is to replace the rear axle completely, which is not a starter in financial terms. I have since noticed that the squeek disappears when the suspension is pumped up by one setting but starts again when it is lowered to the normal level. I need to find a cure - the car is otherwise in great condition but I can't see how we will be able to sell it when you can hear it coming down the street from miles away! The garage greased the bits that could be greased and I've tried spraying WD40 on anything that looks like it might move but without success.Has anyone else had this problem and found a way to cure it without spending thousands of pounds? Thanks, Jason Quote
