StormB Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Hi all, just a quick hint. I got my C1 from Hartwells in Abingdon about a month ago. Couple of weeks later I found the economy to be lower than expected (mid-40's with careful driving). Checked the tyre pressures and found they were exactly 24psi all round! Pumped them up to 33psi and have left it a couple of weeks. Good news is that my economy is now at 56mpg on the last tank! Also good is that the pressures are still 33psi, although this does lead me to believe the pressures were low when supplied by the dealer! I'm not going to kick up too much of a fuss when I take it for it's 1500 mile inspection, but it's certainly worth you checking your pressures after you get your new car!! Cheers, Will Quote
ColinC1 Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Yes, the tyre pressure for the standard factory fit tyres are 32 PSI.Over the last 2 years I have got 58 MPG on average. I have been very fortunate with my tyres as they hardly lose any pressure at all, over a long period of time. I check them less than I should, due to having to take my Citroen wheel trims off (plus cutting 2 tieraps per trim), just to get at the air valve with my gauge. Real bad design DOH ! I find I had only lost 2 PSI in a year ;) As you say if your pressures are down then you lose out fuel economy wize, and wear out your tyres quicker, and the cars safety is compromised. And, if the pressures are to high then you get a very hard ride, and again wear and safety is an issue. Quote
pragmatix Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Also remember that as a new car it wont be running at its best for quite a few miles engine needs to loosen up as does the transmission. Quote

A very good point....don't worry about mpg from your new showroom C1, you need to let the engine rev through it's full range as it warms up and never/ever labour the engine.. i would recommend changing the engine and gearbox oil plus filters well before the factory recommendation of 10K miles. TurboSlag Posted September 5, 2008 Posted September 5, 2008 Did my 1st 107s service myself at 10k and the oil was still relatively sweet and clean. Any sooner is just a waste. The Toyota production tolerances on that little engine are spot on. Quote
CE08LDB Posted September 6, 2008 Posted September 6, 2008 The Pressures on my New C2 were spot on. I did my weekly check 1 week after I had it and they were all spot on. In the last 4 months Ive only had to pump my 2 front tyres up as the psi was abit low but not much. Quote
