Recently bought C3 1.4 HDi 16v SX. Great car, but found 1 BIG problem that nobody has found a solution to at Citroen Headquaters.

How do you look the car should the central locking remote button fail? According to the manual the key should lock all doors, but on mine it only operates the drivers door!!! Tried at least 6 more in garage & all the same. So far I have been shown the emergency switch in passenger doors & how to unlock the boot from the inside with your portable screwdrive!!. However no solution as yet as to how to lock the boot.

A Technical person at HQ suggested to my dealer that you lower the window, get out the car, lean back thru the window, press central locking button & close window!!!!! Guess what - this doesn't work.

Any other solutions out there in C3 fan land??!!

It does anoy me too to be honest. In winter I wanted to run my engine while I had a shower, but I couldn't lock all the doors with the other key. Thought about a remote start alarm, but how do the fitters cope with multiplex wiring?

Did you realise that leaving your car running unattended is illegal??
Anyway, I had a Pug 206 and tried to lock the doors with the remote key (from inside) whilst the engine was running.. guess what - nothing happened!
Maybe the cars are trying to be too clever!! :)

Spoke to the dealer today who informed me that the key is purely as as emergency method of entering the car if the *plip* doesn't work...it only operates the drivers door......so if you have a car load of peeps and the plip doesn't work you all have to climb in the drivers door as the deadlocks stay in place.

My 1999 Xsara (deadlocks, but different ones) lets you use the central locking to lock the key in, when you are defrosting in winter.

I use the crooklok on the wheel and the spare key which doesnt have a crooklok key on it.

You can also unlock the passenger door and the drivers door using the key if you disconnect the battery when the doors are deadlocked.
