keills Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Yesterday my 30 day warranty on my 2004 1.4 hdi ran out, unfortunetly today so did my power steering and my rev counter and my trip computer.Any seen this type of fault before?.could it be a relay or ecu?cost involved?.As I live on an island, any repair would involve an expensive ferry trip so if I could source any parts on the mainland and fit them myself it would save me a fortune.ie address of suppliers.Any help would be gratefully received. Guest Citroen CT Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 the common cause of this problem is the speed sensor located on the rear of the gearbox it sits where you would expect to find the speedo cable, and suffers from water ingress into the connector.you can check the output from this sensor by connecting an led to the pulse wire and earth then spinning a wheel with ignition on you should see the led flash if the sensor is working.the pins are marked on the sensor with +/- i think it is pin 2&3 if memory serves but check before doing this test.if you vehicle is suffering from this fault and has abs it wont have this sensor and fault will need faults reading in ABS and steering ECU's Quote
