jazzster Posted October 11, 2005 Posted October 11, 2005 I was looking at citroen web site and they have a 1.6 SX auto listed there, no details as they are updateing specs Quote
CE08LDB Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 I think they it will be the same as C3 1.4i SX Auto but a 1.6i 16v instead. Most probably the same gearbox they use for the C4 1.6i 16v SX Auto. I should imagin the Sensodrive would still be a better choice. I see the New C3 Exclusive is having colour coded mirrors. I would have liked that on mine. Which C3 do you prefere? Im quite happy with the one I got. Citroen have done what they did on the Xsara Picasso in 2004 really. Quote
wozza Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Get the mirrors done then should only cost a small amount for colour coding. Know someone got all there bump strips mirrors etc done for £70 so cant be too expensive for 2 mirrors. Quote
jazzster Posted October 12, 2005 Author Posted October 12, 2005 I think I would prefer the proper auto, the sensodrive is to slow at changing gear and at junctions never sure if it will pull of quick or slow plus the odd bad change and clutch judder. I am considering changeing it at the moment been looking at Ford Focus but my stereo will not fit. I have even thought of getting the new C3 1.6 SX but don't know whether to risk the gearbox and a Citroen again. Quote
wozza Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 The new focus is really ugly though in all fairness. And there will be a fascia adaptor to allow your stereo to fit. But most of these semi auto boxes suck used a couple different manufacturers versions wasnt a fan of them. Same as autos theres always a bit of a delay in when ya put your foot down to when it goes off. Its just one of the things you have to content yourself with when buying an automatic. Quote
jazzster Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 I was looking at the old Focus, the stereo is a Double Din one it's the size that will not fit wiring is not a problem. As for gearbox I have various different ones and think I prefer the CVT versions best followed by the old ZF in the BX. The thing with the CVT is there is still plenty of power and no jerking changes and MPG does not suffer very much. The sensodrive is not very quick at changeing gear and so poor at junctions like giveways and roundabout where you are going slow at junction it may not change to 1st and you try to pull away and crawls out of the junction in 2nd or takes ages to change to 1st and leaves the nose of you car sticking out at junctions. I had a Corolla that was normal auto and it never had much of a delay pulling off. I have notice the new Honda Civic has the same type of gearbox as the C3 I wonder if that will be any better. Quote
wozza Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 You can get a double din to single din converter for the car how do you think everyone else puts after market stereos in them??? Then its just a simple case of putting in the cradle and the stereo takes like 10 minutes. Maybe its just me but im fairly quick at gear changes and i notice a delay in all the auto boxes i have tried. Quote
jazzster Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 The stereo I have is double din and the focus is not listed by kenwood as one it will fit but the new 2005 Focus is. Yes there is a delay in most autos but not in CVT gearbox because it does not have set gears they are pullys which change sizes and make it so smooth. Also no automatic I have ever had is as bad as the Sensodrive at junctions Quote
wozza Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 I dunno i just think road cars shoudl have 3 pedals. Thats just me though i do drive an auto regularly as well but i still prefer to drive a manual it just seems more enjoyable. Quote
jazzster Posted October 16, 2005 Author Posted October 16, 2005 The PDF file for specs is now on citroens website, the 1.6 SX Automatic model has disapeared and 1.4 SX Automatic. The Sensodrive has new gearlever style and Exclusive has the folding mirrors again. Quote
CE08LDB Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 The Exclusive should have had the folding Mirrors non stop. Not fair really on owners like us Jazzster. Like my I seen a C3 SX Tuscan Blue style 1 Reg CE55 EYR in town the other day then I pass a C3 LX Silver New Shape Reg CE55 EYV on the same bult of registrations because CE55 is only suppose to be for september registed vehicles then its CK55 for October which the local Vauxhall and Ford Dealers have started on the CK55 now. I wouldn't have been happy if I was the owner of that C3 SX then sene a new style C3 LX with one letter out from mine but I had mine back in April so it dosen't really matter to me. And they are still not doing the C3 in the Green I got I had one of the last ones. When I saw the 1.6i 16v SX Auto on Citroen UK I thought they were going to use the same gearbox and engine as the C4 1.6i 16v SX Auto. I drove my brothers C3 1.4i SX the other day it was terrible the gearbox was crap on the changes and its a new gear box. Sport mode don't work like it used to. Not very responsive. Note CE55 and CK55 are South Wales Registrations. Wozza when are you having your new C4? Quote
wozza Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Should be getting it in next couple of weeks. hopefully! Know what dealers are like :/ Although havnt had anythign to suggest its not gonna be here yet no phone calls or anything so hoping all goes well. Really looking forward to getting it now and giving it a bit of a thrashing over snakes pass what better way to find out how it'll handle? :D Quote
CE08LDB Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 Well my car took 8 weeks suppose to have had it in 4 weeks tops. If I had money and because I only can drive Auto/Sensodrives I would like to have a C4 2.0i 16v Auto Exclusive. Now thats a model you get alot more features than other C4 5 door Models. The C3 Exclusive dosen't have much more than C3 SX. But there is alot between the C4 Exclusive and C4 SX. The New C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive does 118mph 0 - 62mph in 12.6 secs. The Old C3 1.6i 16v Exclusive Sensodrive does 119mph 0 - 62mph in 11.9 secs. weird The C4 is coming very popular on the Motability scheme because of the Nil Deposits on the 1.4i 16v LX/SX and the 1.6i 16v SX/VTR Coupe so the C3 is less popular on the Motability scheme as it used to be. Quote
wozza Posted October 16, 2005 Posted October 16, 2005 I went with the VTR+ model for mine in the 1.6 petrol version. Only 22 and not got a years no claims yet so group 6 is still rather expensive to insure for me especially with living in the city centre meaning its always parked on the road in the centre of manchester. Cant rmember exactly how quick mine was think it was around 10.3 to 60 maybe a little more or less im not exactly sure. It will be going in for a remap though so expect that to come down somewhat. But i get a lot of features on the basic car. Theres not much more that you can get spec's wise on the VTS / exclusive i dont have except a couple small cosmetic things side bump strips are colour oded mine arent and theres a rear spoiler on the coupe version some door sills different exhaust really not a massive difference in it nothing im gonna care about anyways. I will likely end up getting the door strips colour coded anyways get my own decent stereo put in it and thats about it. I just wanna see if uni will let me borrow the dyno to run the engine in and plus wouldnt mind getting it on there anyway to see how well it is actually running. And what its getting before and after the remap. Quote
CE08LDB Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 The VTR+ model is suppose to be good on the 5 door version. If you are having a different stereo put in beware the C2 and some C3 owners have had problems doing this. Some C2 owners who fitted their own stereo couldn't lock the car afterwards intill the standard 1 was put back in couldn't turn the Alarm off etc So be carefull. I bet your insurance will be expensive being in Manchester City Centre. What Colour are you having? Quote
wozza Posted October 17, 2005 Posted October 17, 2005 My insurance is bleeding stupid whatever car i get. I originally wanted a clio sports 182. Unfortunately it was group 16 or group 17 insurance depending on the model you get and at 22 was a bit ridiculous. £7000+ a year ridiculous. And yeah heard about the mutiplex wiring issues sure can find a way round it though. I actually asked the guy in the citroen dealer about that he didnt seem to think there would be a problem with it and he was getting himself a C4 after he had finished with his C2. And getting mine in wicked red. Was gonna get it in black but woulda been filthy all the time the buses that are constantly going past the car seem to love covering it in diesel smoke so its usually filthy gets washed very often as a result hate driving round in a dirty car. Quote
wozza Posted October 23, 2005 Posted October 23, 2005 Found out why my C4 is taking so long. Apparently its due to me wanting a red one had i choosen another colour i woulda had it by now. But on the good side im apparently gonna be one of the only people in the country with a 55 reg C4 coupe in wicked red. But good news is i should have it in less than 3 weeks. YAY! About bleeding time. As long as it dont get delayed. And since i just recently turned 22 and my 1 years no claims my insurance just dropped a load :D happy now. Quote
jazzster Posted November 19, 2005 Author Posted November 19, 2005 1.6 SX auto back on Citroen website, at a amazing price of £12295 don't want much do they. No discount listed yet. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted December 6, 2005 Posted December 6, 2005 I think the SX Auto is having Alloys as standard. I I had my car now I still would have picked the Sensodrive Exclusive. My Dealers Service Manager said he preffers the old style C3. He said Citroen haven't done much to the new style its only another excuse to get more customers. I got to have the black pastic done under my bumper as the middle part came off but its being done under warrenty. Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Did you know a New Automatic Gear box for a C3 costs £2,000. The head machanic was telling me. No wonder the insurance wrote my brother C3 off Quote
Guest CE05LDB Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 Well on Citroen UKs web site the 1.6i SX Auto is having wheel trims now and not Alloys 25/1/06 Well it is having alloys now wish they make up their mind Quote
