seefive Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Hi I noticed the old post about headlamp bulbs surfaced again in C5 problems section. Reading all the advice and counter-advice put me in mind of a recent conversation I had with a BMW owner. One of the side light bulbs needed replacing on his 7 series. Cost to replace at main dealer. TWO HUNDRED POUNDS!!! (not sure if that included VAT) So he got a friend to come and help, and it took them 2 hours to remove bumper, parking sensors etc to replace the bulb, which was £20 alone. Puts Citroen prices/practicality in context, I think. Any advance on £200? Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 TWENTY QUID for a bl**dy bulb! Was the B*$t^rd GOLD plated? The question begs to be asked. If it cost £20 why the H*ll did it blow in the first place? There's far too much of this crap going around just now. I heard a story about some one with a Merc which has the indicator repeaters built into the mirror. Well the light went out and the guy went to get a new bulb, only to be told he needed a complete new mirror as you can't just change the lamp. Apparently it's built into the mirror and it's supposed to outlive the car, the owner, mankind & the world in that order. It lasted 2 weeks! Luckily it was inside the warranty period so I've no idea how much it would have cost otherwise. As far as I'm concerned you can take your German "Quality" and stick it where the sun don't shine! Give me French cheap & cheerfull any day! BYE! <_< Quote
