Maiden in Distress Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 First day of using new car, engine fuel warning light illuminated with rough engine running and black fumes from engine compartment. Recovered to Citroen garage. Strong smell of electical shorting from engine compartment, dealer diagnosis is faulty injector. However concerned with other possible damage to electrical componants and catalictic converter. Quote
Tony_T Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 These are the posts you dont want to read when you've just ordered one up :) Hope it all comes good Maiden Quote
pork_pie Posted April 3, 2003 Posted April 3, 2003 Oh my god. Glad you did not recieve any personal injury. That could have been mega serious. Citroen revaled a possible electrical shorting and a compartment fire a few months ago if water gets into Engine Control Unit that deals with the Antilock brakes *Looks at Glass' Value for a C3 Exc Hdi* "That little?" mooseshaver Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 I'm told if an engine miss-fires it can damage the cat. But your experience has made my exaust in the cockpit look almost accepatble. Quote
Maiden in Distress Posted April 4, 2003 Author Posted April 4, 2003 Car repaired and back on the road, injectors replaced. Citroen Assist were really good can't say the same for local Citroen Dealer who suggected that as I didn't buy the car from them they couldn't supply a loan car and "hoped they didn't see me again............... very nice! Supplying Dealer Croxdale Citroen were excellent and keep in touch through the whole episode. Know were I will taking my car in future! :) Quote
mooseshaver Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Don't know why the dealer won't give you a loan car other than spite. They still must get paid by citroen to fix it. When I took mine to another dealer they said they would give me a car even though I didn't buy my C3 from them Quote
Maiden in Distress Posted April 11, 2003 Author Posted April 11, 2003 Had a strange telepone call in response to a letter sent to the dealer in question, not from the General Manager, but the Workshop Manager who gave 1001 excuses - sounded like a "job's worth". Considering car had broken down less then 100 yards from their showroom the response was appalling " if you want a loan car call Citroen Assist" no empowerment here! Quote
AlanFC Posted April 11, 2003 Posted April 11, 2003 Maiden, Do not take any sh1t from these R. Soles. On the 31st March there was a major[B] amendment to The Sale of Goods Act. Which, in a nutshell means that if there is any problem with faulty goods, you are entitled by law to reject them and demand[B] refund or replacement! If they disagree that there is a problem, the onus is incontravertibly theirs to prove there isn't a problem. The onus is no longer with the purchaser. I also think that the law is retrospective 6 months prior to that date. Contact your local Trading Standards Office. It is their problem, don't make the mistake of letting it become your problem. You do not want to end up with a Lemon and further down the line be in the position of Giles, Mooseshaver and Pork Pie. Regards, AlanFC Quote
danielsydney Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 Maiden I had 2 failed injectors in my 1.4 C3 in Australia. THey both got replaced and it happened just outside of Warranty. This is unheard of aparently in most car circles. I never really recovered from it. I got told the C3 uses Sagem injectors and they arent the best. Quote
