Guest SortedTrainers Posted January 22, 2009 Posted January 22, 2009 My Xsara MKII is going in for its MOT tomorrow and I've been trying to replace the side light bulb in one of the front headlights so that it doesn't fail, but I can't get the thing out! I've got to the back of the bulb but there doesn't seem to be anyway to release it??? All I can do is tug on the wiring and unclip the main bulb next to it??? Can anyone help? Quote
Guest SortedTrainers Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Turns out you have to remove the front bumper to change a bulb!!! As the stupid design of them means that the sidelight bulbs have to go in from the front not the back like the others, so you have to remove and dismantle the whole light! ;) Somebody please tell me that thats wrong before I start taking the thing apart?!! Guest Colin Hunter Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Sorry old chap, but I believe you may be right. I don't have first hand experience of this, but I do remember one of my workmates bitching about the same thing some time ago. As the car was quite new at the time, he took it back to our main dealers, (Very good I might add) who tried everything but finally had to give in and take the bumper off so the lights could come out to enable the bulbs to be changed. If you're going to have to change them anyway it might be worth investing in some of the new LED type as they will (SHOULD) have a longer life. Also consider up grading the indicator lamps similarly at the same time. Cheers, Hope this helps (or not!) ;) Quote
