Guest james32496 Posted February 22, 2009 Posted February 22, 2009 Hi.I need to replace some of the bulbs in the dashboard. The manual says to remove the steering wheel.I am a not sure which part of the steering wheel I need to take off to avoid the airbag.Do I just prise the whole thing off, or is it just the circular part in the middle that has AIRBAG printed on it.Thanks for your help. Guest Colin Hunter Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 If you need to remove the steering wheel you must first remove the airbag (If fitted). First of all, disconnect the battery and wait about 15 mins for any residual voltages to dissipate. (make sure you know the radio code first!) Feel round on the back of the wheel and you should find two (I think) holes. These holes are where the screws that hold on the airbag are. I don't know what kind of bit you'll need but I suspect torx or posidrive. Undo the screws and the airbag should now be free. Disconnect the wiring and remove the bag. The nut that holds on the wheel should now be visible. Proceed as normal from here on. Cheers. Hope this helps. PS don't probe around with a multimeter to check the circuits are dead as this can be enough to fire the pyrotechnics in the airbag. BE WARNED!!!!!!! Quote

Thanks for the reply Colin. Just a thought, Is there any way of taking the dashboard off without touching the steering Wheel? Quote
