eppingboy Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 The air-con system on my Xantia is very noisey when its running. It sounds like a worn bearing somewhere and increases in sound pitch as the car revs up. It works faily well, but could be a bit colder. It was re-gassed last year. Any idea's please. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 The only thing that springs to mind is the bearings in the compressor. If the car doesn't make a noise when the aircon is set to "Off" then they have to be the culprit as everything else on the belt circuit is still being driven once the compressor clutch is out. If it is the compressor which is making the noise then it may also be failing, as you say the air is not very cold. The best bet is a replacement compressor. I found this site through Google and the prices seem reasonable. Xantia air con compressor . You'll also have to factor in labour and another re-gas. Cheers. Hope this helps. Quote

Is there a number relating to this unit on it? If so, is this the number that I quote for a replacement? Cheers again. Quote
Guest Colin Hunter Posted August 20, 2009 Posted August 20, 2009 Hi again. Sorry I haven't been on for a while. Yes. There should be a number on the compressor so you can get a replacement. Failing that, most places will be able to tell what type you need if you provide them with the year, Engine size and / or Vehicle ID number. Cheers. Hope you get it sorted. Quote
