dewatson10 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 I have had problems with what sounds like a noisy differential. I would like to check if there is oil in the gear box, but I am not sure where to check. Can anyone tell me where I should be looking? Also what sort of oil I should use? Quote
Martin_1973_uk Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 These cars are just noisy...... are you sure its the gearbox? Quote
dewatson10 Posted September 11, 2009 Author Posted September 11, 2009 I have had problems with the gear box since buying the car new. It wasn't going into gear. Citroen told me it was the clutch and charged me £600 to have it replaced (not covered by the warranty). I am not sure if they have interfered with my gear box and not properly filled it with oil. Martin_1973_uk Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 Early C1's had a clutch design fault which made it hard to engage gear. You should have brought this up with Citroen as I think it should have been fixed under warranty. You could always write to head office. I did this over a Ford Mondeo starter motor and I got my money back. You need to send some evidence of it being a common problem but a little research could get you your money back. It must be bad if you can hear the noise over the engine/wind/road noise. Dont get me wrong I love these cars but they have their limitations. Quote
