mossstock Posted October 15, 2009 Posted October 15, 2009 Hi folks. I have a P reg 1.9td xantia estate, which has been a brilliant car. In january, while away in Liverpool, I got into my parked car, depressed the clutch pedal, and it shot to the floor with a bang. One investigating, I found that the clutch cable had come out of the plastic joint clip on the foot pedal. I manage to repair it, and the car drove fine for another month, then the same thing happened again. This time I bought a new clip and metal spring. Again drove Ok for a couple of months, until it went again. Next step was to buy a new clutch cable, plus another clip and spring, and to let a mechanic fit it. Ok for another few weeks, and then the darn thing did it again. Could anybody offer any help and advise please? I really like the old girl, she's a great workhorse, but has been standing idle in the yard now for the past 4 months, as I no longer trust her. Is it something I am doing wrong perhaps? Thanks very much, John Quote

Guest roypk Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Hi John, Adjust your clutch to give one inch pedal free play. your cable is trying to stretch and breaking out the plastic link clip. Quote
