Recommended Posts

Hi,

ZX. 1.4.Today noticed water on back passanger sit (right) footwel (floor). I checked everything but no idea where is coming from. Everything is dry except the footwel.

Has anyone had this problem?

Any idea is welcome.

Thanks.

Hi there. If the door seals are OK then check that the drain holes in the door bottom are clear. It's not unknown (in any car) for these holes to choke and water to build up, especially in heavy rain, and come into the car behind the door trim. the water then drains slowly from the door through the partially choked drain holes, leaving the owner puzzled as to how the water has got in.

Cheers. Hope this helps. :)

Hi Colin,

Thanks for the replay. I have checked the seals (are dry) and the drain holes in the bottom door are clear. Even now noticed that the floor is covered with water. I am wander if is coming from the sunroof, i checked it, it is just a few drops, but i do not thing could be the cause of it. It is too much water on the floor! I will see what i can do.

...removed the back sit and found water under it. There is some kind of button made by rubber, what is that for. There is water around it.

The rubber "Button" is an access plug. If you (carefully) prise it out you should find some kind of fixing underrneath it, possibly for the rear axle although I don't recognise it as the picture is quite small. Clean up the metal and the plug and replace it with some silicone sealant smeared around the lip of the hole and the recess in the plug. If the water is getting in there then that will (or should!) stop it.

Cheers. Hope this helps. :(

Thanks Colin for help. I found the problem. My brother reversed the car and hit a pole. Rear boot closed was no longer good so I went to a crash repair. They pulled back the back panel where the number is and split off parts of the back which were combined and infiltrated water. they covered it with the carpet and i could not see it. Almost all sponge was with water than went to the floor. They did not a good job. I used a solution to fill the gaps, it might stop the leak.
