Idle Steve Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Hi All, My Xsara HDi 110 53 reg takes ages to warm up in the morning. The thermostat is new but due to how efficient the engine is it still takes ages.Anyhow, when I was changing the clutch I noticed a unit in the feed pipe to the heater matrix with what looks like 4 glow plugs in it, an auxilary electric water pre-heater! I followed the two cables to a box on the bulkhead with two 40amp fuses & 2 relays inside. When I operated the relays manually the unit heated up & you could hear the water simmering, however when the car is started on a cold morning the relays do not operate (both have been tested & work fine).Does anybody know what switches the relays (both have separate feeds) & at what temerature etc. Thanks, Steve.
