markyb Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 today i took the c3 out for the fist time since we had all the heavy snowi cleared the snow off the roof and screen but i guess i didnt clear it all from round the wipersi put them on but i guess it was too much for them so i cleared most of it awaynow they wont work. washers still workrear wiper okfront wipers sort of make a small grunt and move about a mm but nothing elseits obvious somethings therei checked the fuse but its fine.i took t he car out for a good long run to north wales and back (about 200 round trip)i thought maybe the arms were froze and would be ok when everything warmed up but noany ideas????? also here is a strange one. with all the cold weather my gearbox been freezing1st time it felt like it had been cased in a sort of thick gel and was real slow and hard putting it in to gear, then after a few mins of the car warming up was finea few other times (today included ) would not move at all . but again after a few mins warming car up. its as good as new Quote
newbornmole Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I have the same wiper problem. Think that something has broken in the linkage. We leave our wipers on 'auto' and so I think they were trying to work with 200mm of snow and ice on them. This must have sheared something in the linkage from the motor. Not really sure yet how I am going to fix it! Update 26/1. In the end I used a Haynes manual to tell me how to get to the wiper motor linkages. The main link rod from the motor crank had come off and had got badly bent in the mechnanism. I took it off and straightened it out in a vice. Refitted it all and it is all working again. Phew! Quote
CE08LDB Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 My Brothers Wipers went Faulty twice so far in the last 2 months. I fixed them in the end by tighting the bolts. Quote
