I have a Citroen ZX Furio 18i that blows fuse 7 (10 amp) when turning the ignition key on. It must be a 'dead short' because even if I put in a higher rated fuse, it blows immediately. When checking the owners handbook, the fuse protects several circuits including reversing light, key-pad immobilser etc. I have experienced this before but have been lucky in that if I move the wires behind the fuse box it used to 'rectify the problem'. It doesn't work now. I have also found that the other fuses don't correspond to the owner's handbook or the Hayne's manual.

The car turns over but the immobiliser won't let the car start. I thought I might be able to by-pass the immobiliser circuit but there about 10 wires going in to it and I don't want to remove the dashboard to trace them back.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and what was the solution, if any?

Regards
