Steering Wheel Shredding....

Hi All

Wife has a 56 plate VTR which has done around 50k so not high mileage (mainly school run stuff) but over the past few months the leather on the steering wheel has started to ripple and the surface is starting to peel away in very thin threads.

Anybody else come across this? and is there a solution which doesn't involve a new steering wheel cos I bet they're expensive and fiddly to change with the airbag etc etc.

Thanks

Rob

You could try fitting a steering wheel glove, there is a variety on Ebay.

Here is one for instance. On Ebay type in this no.Item number: 260562470499

I have a 56 plate 1.6 HDI Exclusive, mine is also peeling, its done 45000 miles.

Initially I thought the mechanic had scratched it with a screwdriver or something similar but I have now noticed it happening in other places.

I just hope it lasts long enough until I replace the car.
