Annoying Warning Light

Hi all. I have a 2002 1.8 Xsara Picasso with 75753 miles on the clock. It runs well and is always reliable but i keek getting a warining light on on the dash. It looks like an engine with a K on it and is yellow. I have looked in the owners manual but that does not tell you much exept that it is an exhaust gas issue. My question is is this a serious problem and what may be causing it. I have just had a new centre and back box fitted but it was doing this before then. Possible cheap fix advise would be nice.
