Guest Taz.D Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hello all another newbie here, I found your forum whilst trying to find out some info for my van.and wondered if anyone on hgere has any ideas on the following.....my berlingo van is on a 54 plate and is a 1.9 enterprise and has got 70,000 on the clock. I have just had the cam belt changed and the van still runs as good as it did before and still starts on the button, but a strange thing is happening since the belt change,,basiclly when I pull away and go gently though the gears as the needle on the rev counter go's between 1800 and 2200 rpm the is a single bleep and the engine diagnosics light comes on for a couple of seconds and then go's out....if i drive it a bit more briskly through the gears there is no bleep and no light coming on also in neutral if I just rev the engine there is no bleep and no light..I have spoken to the guy who did the cam belt change and he has got no idea what is causing it to happen but agrees that it did not do it befor the belt change....if any one has any ideas I would be very greatfull......thanks taz Quote
stanman1 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 try sticking it on a fault code reader! if there is a problem it would normally be recorded in the brain of the car. the garage where you had the belt done should have a reader[ if they're any good] and then you can go from there!! it sounds like they might have timed it up wrong. did they fit a new tensioner as well as the belt. if this jumps or sticks as the revs are altered it could be causing a blip on the timing for a split second and this would make the management light flash! but as i said earlier it should be recorded on the brain[ecu]. this is only my opinion dont take it as gospel  regards, stanman Quote
