xantia2.0 Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Well, after all the problems plus the cam belt slap I've decided to sell the Citroén. With 11 months MOT, 5 months Tax and no rust on the body, I'm trying to get £1,200 for it. Which means I'll get a £300 profit as I've spent £900 on it (including buying it) so far. And what am I replacing it with you may ask ? Well nothing, I'm going to use busses! NO!! I'm buying a 2003 Ford Focus 1.6 Ghia-X (ALL THE OPTIONS!) for £0.00! Here's the story, I work for a taxi company, and last year they upgraded their cars to brand new Peugeot's. And the Focus was the only "old" car to stay, because it had just been through an MOT the week before. And it was only going to be kept till the MOT ran out... And it does so on Monday next week. It was going to be crushed with the scrappage scheme in favour of another new Peugeot, but I've always liked the car, and I always chose it when I was on a shift, so I said I'd buy it. Since I've been working with the company for over 8 years, and the boss knew of the money I was having to spend on the Xantia, he said I could have the Focus for free, since it needs an MOT. I've checked over it before leaving tonight and as far as I know it needs nothing done, though the MOT tester might have something else to say! Whatever it does need, it won't be near as bad as the Citroén. Well, I'm picking it up tomorrow morning at 9am! It'll clock off for the last time at 1am and the key's and V5C will be in the drawer in the office partly signed just needing my details. Ahh, I've always loved Focuses and now I'm finally getting one! Be it a 222,000 mile, 7 year old one with a few dents and scratches! Though the taxi company has serviced it every 10,000 miles and it comes with half decent tyres bolted to it (with original alloys) and a new cam belt 20,000 miles ago. Well, I'll be off now. Bye!
