Only differece is the reception comes back after a few minutes and is then fine for the rest of the journey.(so liveable with, but annoying)Changing the radio to an after-market unit is not an option on the Mk2 as it controls loads of the car's functions. Fortunately I have a spare radio, as I upgraded to the MP3 disc version when I bought the car.Anyone else had this with a mk2/RD4? Thanks Quote
qman3428 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Not wishing to belittle anyone but are you sure its not just the RDS and turning it off would fix the problem? Quote
seefive Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Not wishing to belittle anyone but are you sure its not just the RDS and turning it off would fix the problem? No - It's not searching, and TA and REG(ional) settings are off. I use a Pure Highway DAB tuner for radio, and the 2 aerials (FM and DAB) might be conflicting, causing the signal to fade. Doesn't happen every day..I tried my spare radio and it made no difference.Next step is to get the Highway connected into the back of the RD4 by a line in connection, and get both sockets activated, (BOGOF!) at the main dealer when it goes in for next service. That should solve it, as I won't need FM any more. Quote

seefive Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Update to this - I had the aux sockets activated and a connection box fitted in the glovebox. DAB tuner now hard-connected via fly lead which was routed behind the steering wheel for me.(tuner sits above the driver glovebox). Cost somewehere around the £100 mark, but was bundled in with service, brakes and mot, so not sure of exact cost. Nice solid reception, and I'm ready for the FM switch-off. I'm still disappointed that so many car manufacturers are hard-fitting fm radios in new cars. Built- in obsolesence! Ford and Vauxhall are pretty good in this regard, offering DAB standard or options across their ranges. But Citroen are totally intransigent, - typically French.. Quote
Hedgie Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 /OK I know I am dragging up an old post but how do I know if a head unit has the aux in function. I am looking to buy either a 56 plate vtr with tel button on the head unit or a 54 plate exclusiv with fitted cd changer? Quote
