Engine Fault

Hi

 

New here, although I did regularly contribute to a Citroen board when I was first getting my car.

 

Have a slight problem that I wondered if you guys might have some knowledge of.

 

A few weeks ago having just returned from holiday (Driven to South of France and back), car was serviced prior to holiday. Driving along the dual carriageway when bam it felt like someone had gone into the back of me such was the jolt, Automatic Gear Fault came up on the dash and then it was fine. Nothing happened since.

 

Today, left work, filled up with petrol, went to collect my son from school. When we were ready to leave, started the car and it came up with something like , transmission into P and then conked out, tried again same thing and the engine sounded funny like it was labouring. Started it again, revved it a bit but it didn't sound like it had any bottle, pulled away but couldn't go faster than about 10 miles an hour. Had to pull over and call out the rescue, its now at the dealership awaiting diagnosis.

 

I am very worried that its going to need a new gearbox as I had read that was in the region of £2k. It will be 4 years old in October.
