A Bit Of A Problem ?

Hi everyone , i have a xsara 2001 y reg 1.6 16v, i have a bit of a problem with it , when the car is hot it has a misfire , its mainly when the revs are between 1 and 2 thousand revs under load , but 2 or 3 times now it has had it all over the revs and the engine managment light flashes on and off but if you stop the car switch it off and start it a couple of minutes later its just back to having the misfire between 1 and 2 k ???? HELP PLEASE , thanks

when were the plugs changed last, have you checked the condition of them, are they all nice light tan or are any oily,sooty,white cracked centre core or even the gap too large
