Zx 1.4i Engining Cutting Out When Revcounter Stops Working?

Hi, I have a zx petrol 1.4i 1997 sx and I have a problem where if the rev counter stops working the engine will not idle and the only way to start it is to push the throttle down (which I should not be doing), it goes but it takes some foot work to keep it going, so which part am I looking to replace.

 

it used to be that when the rev counter came back the engine would work ok but now its stop altogether, plus if I turn on the ignition sometimes the rev counter will fire up and show about 3000 rpm when the engine is not even going.

 

so anyone have any ideal what part needs fixing and where to look.
